A lot has been said and written about Artificial Intelligence till now, but very few of us might have a clear idea on what impacts it can make on our lives or what are the impacts it has already made. AI has gathered a lot of media attention in the recent past be it for an autonomous vehicles and improved robotics are some of the sectors which has grabbed the attention. Many of the researchers have found that the risk brough by the AI might not bring as much risks as the one that still exist in our society. Automation through an AI will surely increase the productivity but it will not improve the living conditions of the people. AI will surely increase the pollutions and resource exhaustion if we will not be regulating it properly.

There are also many researchers who found that AI in itself is not a threat or danger to the mankind.  However they feel that it can result in further economic divisions until and unless if there is nothing done to reduce this gap.  Many of the researchers have found that there is nothing to worry like its been told in the science fiction movies. At the outmost it will bring economic advantages to a certain part of the society and this will increase the rich-poor economics.

Dark Side of AI

When it comes to the dark side of Artificial Intelligence (AI) we know that there are destructive tools like 3D weapons which already exists for sale. Recently an AI scenario has developed where gun is combined with a drone fitted with a high resolution camera and a facial recognition algorithm which will be able to detect the specific faces of the target and then assassinate them as it flies across the sky.

Action Needs to be Taken Soon

There are researchers and scholars who have called for an action that needs to be taken to avoid any potential dangers or risks. There are some weapons been developed like legal autonomous weapon system or the killer robots is considered as one of the pitfalls. There are many who suggest that action needs to be taken soon against the development of these weapons. There are some people who suggest that development of killer robots can reduce the number of soldiers that die in a war.

Facial recognition technology is far better and natural as well and it can be implemented in a way that it feels much more magical.

History of Artificial Intelligence

In spite of having all the current boost on Artificial Intelligence it is not a new field of study. But AI has been officially started in the year 1956 at Dartmouth college where many of the eminent personality gathered together to brainstorm on intelligence simulation. This happened only a few years after Asimov set their own laws of robotics.

As soon as the research study was published and ideas were risen from the summer meeting, a flow of government funding was reserved for the study in creating a non biological intelligence. At that time AI seemed to be easily reachable, but it was told that it is not the case. At the end of the sixties, many of the researchers realised that AI was one of the toughest field to act on this made the funding to get slow simultaneously.

In United States, the reasons to fund AI was mainly due to the idea of creating a machine translator. This made the data limited available to feed the algorithms as well as scarce computation power of the engines of that time period. This made the field collapsing and AI tech was not used that decade.

In 1980’s a new wave of funding in UK and Japan was motivated by the introduction of “expert systems”. These programs were able to simulate the skills of human experts in specific domains. One of the most active players in those times of Japan where they wanted to create the fifth generation computer which indirectly forced the funding of the research of AI.
